Ernest Hemingway: La Bodeguita del Medio

Like the Floridita, La Bodeguita del Medio is a popular tourist destination. Tourists walk or ride down the narrow brick street known as Empedrado to a small bar/restaurant that is famous for its mojitos ($4). The owner, Abel Martínez, used to give Hemingway and other writers credit, and they in turn wrote about their favorite little bar, making the Bodeguita internationally famous and a popular hangout. The bar is very small and located in the front portion of the establishment, while the back part is a restaurant whose walls are populated by autographed pictures of the rich and famous that visited.

Ingredients of the mojito:

sugar

crushed mint

lime juice

white rum

soda water
