Questions:

  1. Compare where you live to some of the dwellings you have seen on this page.  Include the method of construction, location, yard or garden, size, interior furnishings, etc.
  2. Does the government influences the type of house you live in? How does it influence where you live? If the government does not influence where you live, why is this?
  3. How does the Cuban government influence how or where its people live?  Think about the CDR, subsidies, and house acquisition.
  4. How is the Cubans' perception of privacy and public space different from our own? Think about how you would feel if any passer-by could look into straight into your living room and see what you're watching on t.v.?
  5. Websearch question - Find out about the attempts of UNESCO to restore Habana Vieja.  How much funding will be required?  How much has already been restored?

This webpage was put together by some bicyclists who traveled through Cuba.  They relate interesting findings with many good pictures.  This site also includes general information about several topics such as housing, health (relates the tale of a doctor who can't even afford a bike), and education.
